Riot Games and Prime Gaming are concluding their League of Legends Capsule Reward partnership in March 2024. This collaboration, which has been a staple for League of Legends players, offered monthly in-game rewards such as champion shards, Riot Points, and an XP Boost.
The partnership between Prime Gaming and Riot Games, which began several years ago, extended beyond League of Legends to other titles like Legends of Runeterra, League of Legends: Wild Rift, Teamfight Tactics, and Valorant. It provided players with free items and currency every month, enhancing their gaming experience and granting access to premium content at no additional cost.
However, Riot Games announced on Twitter that Prime Gaming decided not to renew the promotional agreement for 2024. While the items players have already earned will remain in their inventories, the monthly capsule drops will stop from April 2024.
Riot's announcement stated: “An update for players claiming Prime Gaming loot: Prime Gaming has decided not to renew our promotion, which means the last capsule drops will end in March 2024 across all of our games. We know this is disappointing and wanted to let you know as soon as we could. You can continue to claim drops for the next few months, and any Prime Gaming content unlocked prior to March 2024 will remain in your account.”
The League of Legends community has expressed a mix of sadness and disappointment, as many players have become accustomed to the excitement of unlocking Prime Gaming capsules each month. The end of this collaboration has also sparked discussions about its potential impact on Prime Gaming subscriptions, with some players considering canceling their Prime memberships in 2024.
Amazon has indicated that they are stepping back from their gaming experience enhancement program, suggesting that League of Legends might not be the only game affected by the withdrawal of Prime benefits.
Despite the mixed reactions, the partnership between Riot Games and Prime Gaming has significantly influenced the League of Legends experience. The gaming community is now hopeful that Riot, a company with substantial resources, will seek another partner for a reward program.
We will continue to provide updates on any negotiations between Amazon, Riot, and other potential partners. Stay tuned for more League of Legends news.
