If you found it baffling that players were previously banned for using AMD's Anti-Lag+ to enhance the game's performance, a legitimate feature, get ready for an even more peculiar twist. It's like getting a speeding ticket while riding a bicycle, and this is precisely what some Counter-Strike 2 players are experiencing this week.

Valve recently began reversing bans for those who utilized Anti-Lag+ in Counter-Strike 2. Nevertheless, the ban hammer remains in action, and this time, it's targeting players who crank up their mouse DPI settings to extreme levels.

YouTuber Water CS2 and other players recently discovered an unusual way to earn a VAC ban. How, you ask? Well, all they did was elevate their mouse DPI to levels that no reasonable gamer would ever use in-game - we're talking about 10,000 and beyond (that's about 9,200 DPI more than what most people use). They then simply let their mouse go wild, swinging it around like an excited kid in a candy store. Some players received a ban after just one match, while others had to endure over an hour of high-speed mouse antics before VAC decided it had seen enough.

Valve's new VAC Live system, capable of issuing bans during live matches, seems to be rather trigger-happy. And one can somewhat understand why it views these DPI-boosting players as potential cheaters. Who hasn't wondered if a teammate spinning around like a top just before a round is about to channel their inner hacker, snapping heads and spraying bullets in all directions? Unfortunately, VAC isn't in the mood for questions; it's doling out bans like they're candy on Halloween. We've reached a point where even the machines can't distinguish between humans and potential troublemakers. What a time to be alive, and what a time to find yourself VAC banned from CS-2!

The less-than-ideal news is that some players are treating this as a bizarre challenge, pushing the boundaries of their DPI settings to see just how far they can go before the ban hammer strikes.

The good news is that you can easily avoid becoming a casualty of this VAC conundrum. No one in their right mind plays Counter-Strike 2 at 10,000+ DPI unless they're goofing around. So, here's a piece of advice: don't test fate by attempting this unless you're using a throwaway account. Instead, perhaps take a moment to caution that friend who treats every warm-up like a high-speed rollercoaster ride that VAC is on the lookout.

Valve hasn't officially commented on these peculiar bans yet, but considering their swift resolution of the Anti-Lag issue, it's likely that a solution is on the horizon. Until then, continue gaming, but maybe dial back that mouse speed for a while!
